Tough Mudder

When I decided to get myself finally in shape several months back in April, I didn’t have a clear goal ahead. All I really wanted was to start practicing a healthier lifestyle (one which includes a physical activity) while losing weight in the process. After a month of hard work and devotion to the program my personal trainer, Mario Canjek laid out for me—things were headed in the right direction.

My trainer mentioned the importance of a more focused personal goal and after some considerations I decided to pick one that seemed unthinkable only a few weeks back—Tough Mudder race.

Tough Mudder is a series of hardcore 10-12 mile obstacle race — mud run events designed by British Special Forces to challenge the toughest of the tough.

The closest Tough Mudder race was in Munich in September. That left me with only four months. Following months, I worked continuously with him with only a small break during summer and managed to prepare my body for the race.

The race was challenging to say the least, but we had a good team (Mihaela, Azra, Marko, Mario, Zlatko, Emil and myself) and that made sure we could finish every obstacle together. Tough Mudder is about teamwork. One of our team members created a nice video from available footage and two available GoPro cameras we had at our disposal. Take a look.

Some obstacles like Funky Monkey were more phisically challenging while others like Artic Enema (ice water) or Electroshock Therapy were testing your mental prepareness. Having finished the race successfully, it seemed (almost) easy, but looking only a few months back, it was challenging, almost impossible goal which I managed to complete.

I am happy with how things turned out and I can say with no reservations that I’m proud of myself and thankful to Mario for showing me the right way forward. Hope I can make Tough Mudder race a yearly tradition.
